Ingredients

Instructions

  • First add the ground beef and seasonings to a mixing bowl (or plastic baggie).
  • Add the water**, as well, and mix everything together with your hands.
  • Heat the bacon grease on a griddle or skillet over the campfire.***
  • Then shape the ground beef mixture into patties and place on the griddle.
  • Cook the bacon and burgers until all of the meat is fully cooked.
  • Then top the burger patties with cheese and continue cooking until the cheese is melted.
  • Toast the burger buns in the leftover bacon grease until they turn a nice golden brown.
  • Add the burger patties to the toasted buns, along with your favorite condiments and toppings. I usually go for a little mayo or Miracle Whip, ketchup, and mustard. Then add my burger patty, bacon, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes.
  • And that's it, you're ready to chow down on your burgers.

Notes

*You can also use cheddar, Monterey Jack, pepper Jack, or whatever type of cheese you love.
**Water helps to make the burgers more juicy.
***Before you start to cook your burgers, your fire should be down to coals, with a little bit of flame. We use a tripod grill. You’ll want to watch it closely, though, as you may need to adjust the height of the grill over the fire, so the pan or griddle you’re using doesn’t get so hot that it cooks everything too quickly.
