Having been huge Gilmore Girls fans, Dan and I have really gotten into the new show Bunheads. We were watching a couple of weeks ago when a local realtor brought Michelle and Fanny a dish called Taco in a Bag. Then and there, I knew I had to try it. Even though my recipe may be just a bit different (for instance, I didn’t layer all ingredients in a pan first), we still dumped our ingredients in the chip bag and mixed all together. It was quite delicious, easy too, and the best part…. it was totally inspired by Bunheads.

This is quite the easy meal and would make a fun meal for a slumber party, a family dinner, etc. The first step is to brown the ground beef and add picante sauce, mixing well. While the beef is cooking, it’s a good time to crunch up your chips; we used Doritos in this case. I think next time I’d love to try this recipe with regular tortilla chips, but these added an extra kick to the meal and were very tasty. Also, chop up the lettuce and tomato. Once everything is ready, it’s time to throw everything together into the Doritos bag; we did remove just a few chips from the bag, mainly because we didn’t want to make too much…. plus they made a great snack. We also added cheese to the bag. Scrunch the bag closed as much as possible, and shake ingredients around well, mixing together all ingredients. Finally, spoon out mixture onto plates, and add sour cream, salsa, and any other toppings desired. The end result may not look as appetizing, but it sure tasted delicious. Another plus to the meal…. easy storage! Just fold up the bag, close with a clothespin, and stick it in the fridge. Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about. Enjoy!

(Disclosure: I did not receive any compensation for this post. This recipe was, however, inspired by the show Bunheads.)
