Since we’ve lived in this house, going on about 3 years now, I’ve had intentions of creating a DIY jewelry hanger board to organize all of my necklaces. But then a few weeks ago, I was inspired by Greco Design Company, who instead of creating a jewelry hanging board with drawer knobs, just put the drawer knobs right in her wall. I loved it! And that’s where I got the inspiration for this particular jewelry hanger DIY project made from drawer knobs I’ve collected over the years.
My poor necklaces, along with other things, have hung out in a tangled heap on my dresser and sometimes in my travel bag, just waiting to be properly stored and organized. Choosing a decorative way to organize and display them adds a colorful, creative touch to the room.
This is a really simple project, and really you only need a couple supplies to make it happen.
Supplies You’ll Need for Drawer Knob Jewelry Hangers
- Drawer knobs (I found mine at Hobby Lobby)
- Drywall anchors
Instructions for Creating Drawer Knob Jewelry Hangers
First of all, decide what type of drawer knobs you want. I get sucked into the knob aisle at Hobby Lobby just about every time we go there, especially when they have a sale. There’s always something unique and different. I decided to go with pops of color and picked a few knobs from my stash, along with a couple I’d picked up on a recent trip to the craft store.
Mark where you want the drawer knobs to be on the wall, using a level and a carpenter’s pencil, or if you’re brave and it’s the only thing you have on hand at the moment, a permanent marker.
Drill the holes for each drywall anchor, anchoring each one into place.
Finally, screw each drawer knob into place in the preferred spot for each knob… This is the most tedious part but doesn’t take long.
And that’s it! Now you can organize and hang your necklaces as you wish.
It makes for a really pretty and unique way to store, organize, and hang your necklaces so they’re not constantly getting tangled.
